Airports must comply with the Federal Aviation Regulations Part 150. What this regulation does is explained scope and purpose section of the 150 document. Basically, the Part 150 standardizes the procedures for evaluating peoples exposure to airplane noise in the area's surrounding the airport. Then, using this document, the airport makes suggestions for lessening the effect of the noise. These suggestions must then be approved by the FAA.
